Cobb County Department of Transportation

Mission

Description
The Department of Transportation (DOT) develops, manages, and operates the county's transportation systems. Those systems include a vast network of roadways, sidewalks, and pathways; a transit system that provides public transportation services; and a general aviation airport that serves business and recreational flying needs.
The Department is comprised of six divisions:

This division manages the Department’s budget and finances, personnel matters, and administers the county’s street lighting program (Streetlight Repair Form). The division works closely with the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Cobb’s municipalities and adjacent counties in the planning and programming of projects.

The division measures traffic volumes and tracks accident rates, as well as provides surveying services for the roadway projects and other county departments. The survey section operates and maintains a County-wide network of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (Cooperative CORS). Engineering staff also provides Geographic Information System (GIS) support and coordinates the development and implementation of GIS in DOT, as well as for countywide GIS initiatives.

This division oversees the contracted daily operations of CCT, and plans for system enhancements and expansion.
